You’re likely at least somewhat familiar with the GMC Sierra. The truck that Kelley Blue Book named as its Best Resale Value Award winner is seen on streets everywhere. But what is the GMC Sierra Denali?

When you have something good, you want more of it. And that’s exactly what the Denai is: more of a good thing. The GMC Denali is more power, more performance, more comfort, and more luxury — all built on the foundation of the award-winning Sierra.

The Denali Upgrade

Here’s what the GMC Sierra 1500 Denali has to offer when compared to the popular base model of the Sierra 1500.

Engine

The base model 2017 Sierra comes standard with a 4.3L V6 engine that produces 285 horsepower and 305 lb.-ft. of torque.

As for the Denali? Try a 5.3LV8 engine that cranks out 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque —  Bigger, stronger, faster.

Drivetrain

The base 2017 Sierra features a rear-wheel drive system, standard among pickup trucks of its class. But an upgrade to the Denali means an upgrade to a standard four-wheel drive, allowing you to conquer any terrain put under your tires.

Transmission

The six-speed automatic transmission of the base level 2017 Sierra is swapped out for an eight-speed at the Denali rank.

Appearance

The base 2017 Sierra is attractive in its own right, but the Denali represents a Sierra after a professional makeover. For example, the 17” painted steel wheels of the base trim are replaced by 20” machined aluminum wheels. The Denali also features LED tail lamps, a chrome grille, and chrome running boards.

Entertainment

As if the hum of the Denali’s engine isn’t music to your ears, this upgraded model features a Bose® sound system with SiriusXM HD Radio and an optional noise cancellation system.

Comfort

Just some of the features the Denali welcomes you with include full-feature leather-appointed bucket seats, dual-zone automatic climate control air conditioning, and a heated steering wheel.

Safety

The difference in safety between the base 2017 Sierra and the Denali trim is the inclusion of forward collision alert, front and rear park assist, lane keep assist, automatic forward braking, and safety alert seat.
